The post
The post office can send you, at your new address, your letters and parcels addressed to you at your old address for a minimum of 6 months. To do this, go to La Poste with an identification document and file a final redirection request.
The electricity and gas
Contact your EDF-GDF agency to close your subscription. Then, call the agency on which your new home depends to be connected as soon as you arrive.
The phone
Announce to your France Télécom agency that you want to cut the current line. A message can be broadcast at your request and free of charge by France Télécom on your old line for 2 months from its termination.
Your subscriptions
Contact all sources of your subscriptions (magazines, internet...) in order to change your contact information.
Insurances
- House : It is mandatory to insure every housing. You must therefore inform your insurer of your new home address and terminate the contract of your old home if necessary.
- Automobile : if you move to a new French department, your license plate changes and justifies updating your car registration document within a maximum of one month; otherwise you may face penalties in the event of a control. Nevertheless, report your new address to your insurer.
Administration
Notify your Social Security Centre, Tax Centre, Family Allowance Fund and Assedic if you are a job seeker.
